Open the ChemSep GUI.

In Heaters/Coolers, add a stage heat exchanger.

To expose it as an energy (inlet-) port, on the CAPE-OPEN tab, check the "Expose Energy Ports" option.

It is an input stream - you can change its value manually or connect it to something that will determine the value for you, such as an output stream of a heater or cooler that is set to heat or cool to a particular temperature.

i put the value when l inserted the stage under the heaters/cooler tab. i also tried to manually input a value of 2E6 BTU/H, I got an error message.

what error message?

If you put an energy inlet stream, its value overrides the value you enter in the GUI
